Honoured and thrilled to announce that Kwari E-Market has been selected for the 2026 Ignite Stage of the Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship (JLMCF) on Entrepreneurship! 🚀Out of thousands of applicants across Nigeria, we are incredibly grateful to be among the 126 student ventures chosen to advance to this intensive phase. Leading this charge is our Founder and CEO, Kassim Muhammad Atiku PMICDFA, who will be representing the venture as a Fellow throughout this rigorous acceleration process. The Vision for Kwari E-Market: Kantin Kwari Market in Kano is the beating heart of the West African textile trade, but traditional physical commerce faces growing hurdles like congestion, logistics bottlenecks, and transit insecurity for regional buyers. Kwari E-Market is changing the narrative. We are digitising this historic hub to seamlessly connect textile traders directly with boutique owners, fashion designers, and bulk buyers across Africa, making trade safer, faster, and borderless. Over the next 6 weeks (June–July), Kassim will be working through Steps 12-24 of the rigorous Disciplined Entrepreneurship framework alongside top global mentors from the Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre (DDQIC).

We are building something that does not yet exist in its final form, and we are doing it in one of the most complex and high-potential markets in Africa.
At Kwari E-Market, we are developing a structured digital commerce layer on top of Kantin Kwari Market in Kano, a deeply informal, high-volume trading ecosystem powered by trust, relationships, and daily cash flow.
As part of our search for a Chief Operating Officer (COO), we have now moved beyond traditional recruitment.
Instead of interviews, we designed a real operational assessment.
Out of 128 applications, 67 candidates advanced to the next stage. These candidates have now been given a structured, real-world assignment designed to test one thing:
Can you build systems that work in the real world, not just on paper?
The assignment places candidates in the role of a live COO and asks them to design one of three core operational systems:
A mass vendor onboarding engine for 5,000 traders
A Kano-based logistics and fulfillment network
A trust-driven payment and settlement system for a cash-heavy market
This is not an academic exercise.
It is a simulation of real ex*****on in a real market with real constraints.
We are intentionally filtering for operators, not theorists, people who can think in systems, act under uncertainty, and build infrastructure where none exists.
From this stage, only the top 5 candidates will advance to the final interview round.
We believe the future of African commerce will not be built by copying existing systems, but by designing new ones that reflect how markets actually work on the ground.
This process is one step in that direction.
