ONE-OF-FEW
One colour. So many different things happening inside it.
What makes this piece special for me is not simply the red.
Look at the deeper tones inside the flowers. Look at the beads giving the petals more life. Look at the darker outlines holding everything together.
Nothing is fighting for attention, but somehow the whole piece still has presence.
And I keep thinking about Nigerian weddings lately.
Look at Zlatan’s wedding. Look at Peller’s wedding. Beyond the couple themselves, people were also watching how everybody showed up. The Agbadas. The colours. The details. The way people entered that room looking like they understood the assignment.
Because at a proper Nigerian wedding, sometimes your outfit is part of how you honour the occasion.
You’re not going there just to sit down, eat jollof and disappear. 😂
You want to show up well.
You want to feel good when you step out of the car.
You want that moment when somebody sees you from across the room and looks again.
And I can already imagine what this particular Agbada will feel like.
From far, they will see red.
Then you come closer and the beads start showing.
The different shades start coming out.
The texture starts making sense.
And suddenly it is not just “red Agbada” anymore.
It is YOUR Agbada.
The one people remember you wore.
The one that enters pictures and still has presence.
The one that makes you stand a little differently because you already know what you have on is not something everybody can just go and pick up.
And that matters even more because we genuinely cannot produce this piece endlessly.
Only a few can exist in this exact form.
So you’re not just buying Agbada embroidery.
You’re buying that feeling of showing up properly.
Of being part of the occasion without disappearing inside it.
Of wearing something that feels like the day deserves it.
