Have you ever picked out a beautiful outfit for your child, only for them to insist they want to wear something else?

Sometimes, we dismiss their choices because we believe we know what looks best on them.

But here's something to think about: allowing your child to choose their outfit can be a simple way to help them feel seen and heard.

Here are 4 things you can try:

1. GIVE THEM OPTIONS.
Pick two or three outfits that are suitable for the weather and occasion, then let your child choose the one they prefer.

2. LET THEM EXPRESS THEIR STYLE.
They may love bright colours while you prefer neutrals. Allow them to explore their preferences within reasonable boundaries.

3. LISTEN TO THEIR REASONS.
Ask them why they like a particular outfit. You might discover that they love the colour, the pattern, the character on it or simply how it feels.

I lift up my children to You and ask for Your blessing, protection, and guidance over their lives.

As they grow and develop, give them wisdom to make good choices, courage to face the challenges of life, and discernment to know what is right.

Keep them safe from harm and surround them with people who will love, guide, protect, and positively influence them.

Fill their hearts with love, kindness, compassion, confidence, and humility.
Help them to know who they are and whose they are. May they never have to question their worth or wonder if they are loved.

Watch over them as they grow. Keep them safe from harm and surround them with people who will love, guide, and care for them.

Fill their hearts with love, kindness, joy, and compassion.
