If you remember one thing before choosing your Prom dress, let it be this:
Not…
“What color do you want?”
Not…
“Ball gown or mermaid?”
Ask yourself this instead:
“How do I want to feel when I walk into prom?”
Here’s something I do with every GENIX client before I sketch a single dress:
I ask them to describe how they want to feel on prom night, in just three words.
Those three words become the blueprint for every design decision, from the silhouette and fabric to the finishing details.
That’s why two girls can bring me the exact same inspiration photo and leave with completely different dresses.
Most girls never stop to ask themselves that question.
Instead, they choose the dress that’s trending on TikTok.
Or the one with the most sparkle.
Or the one everyone else tells them to choose.
Then prom arrives…
…and something doesn’t feel right.
Not because the dress wasn’t beautiful.
Because it didn’t feel like you.
As a designer, I’ve learned this:
A dress isn’t unforgettable because it’s expensive or covered in crystals.
It’s unforgettable because it feels like you.
So before you save another Pinterest dress tonight…
Don’t ask,
“Would I wear this?”
Ask,
“Does this feel like me?”
That one question could change everything about the dress you choose.
