RESOLUTION REACHED AFTER THE CLOSE OF THE LAST EDITION OF THE OGOJA Fashion WEEK
After the conclusion of the 2025 edition of the Ogoja Fashion Week, I requested that our Secretary, Mr. Ejim Michael Etia, schedule an appraisal meeting to review the outcome of the project.
During the meeting, I briefed members of the team on the high and low points of the project. I pointed out the key areas where we performed exceptionally well, and I also highlighted areas where our performance fell short. Notably, one of the areas in which we performed poorly was the welfare of participating designers and models.
As the meeting progressed, everyone present shared their observations about the event and made valuable suggestions to prevent a recurrence of the issues they identified.
At the end of the meeting, we collectively agreed on the following resolutions:
1. We agreed that the welfare of designers and models will be our utmost priority in subsequent editions.
2. We agreed to change the September event date due to the New Yam Festival celebrations, which take place during the same period.
3. We recommended and agreed on a more suitable date to encourage wider participation.
4. We agreed to engage only individuals whose vision aligns with the goals of the project as members of the planning committee going forward.
5. We agreed to refocus the project on showcasing our rich cultural diversity, promoting style and innovation, celebrating creative talent in fashion and enhancing designers and models visibility. This will, in turn, reduce unhealthy competition among designers.
6. Finally, we resolved to improve our efforts to secure more funding from sponsors and stakeholders in order to enhance the welfare and overall experience of participants.
