WHAT IS A MARRIED WOMAN SUPPOSED TO DO WHEN HER HUSBAND DENIES HER AFFECTION OR MISTREATS HER?
Let’s be honest, fair, and realistic.
I’ve read many Nigerians blaming Chike for having an affair with Sandra, a married woman. The loudest voices? Mostly men, especially married men.
These men seem to be suggesting that a woman who is denied s*x and care by her husband should simply have no access to romance at all. That she must accept neglect, loneliness, or even maltreatment without seeking warmth elsewhere. Meanwhile, the same men who preach this gospel often have multiple affairs, some with prostitutes, without facing a fraction of the public outrage.
Take Daddy Freeze, for example. He was ordered by a court to pay ₦7 million in damages to the ex-husband of his current wife - because he began dating her while she was still married. Yet here he is, leading the charge against Chike. The irony is lost on no thinking woman.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth that many refuse to accept: everyone needs romance, connection, and tenderness. These are not luxuries reserved for men. They are human needs.
We can certainly uphold the ideal that a married woman should remain s*xually faithful to her husband. But that ideal only makes moral sense if it applies equally to the man. If a husband can break his vows with impunity, why should a wife be crucified for seeking what she is being denied at home?
So let me say this clearly, especially for the women reading this:

You are not “loose” or “immoral” for wanting what any human being wants - to feel desired, valued, and safe. And if that comes from a credible, respectful, and available alternative, I will not blame you.
I do not blame Chike. I will never blame Sandra. What I wish for them, and for every woman in a similar situation, is the freedom to love without harassment, and the dignity t
