Kwara king abd¥cted as armed bandits invade Isin community at night

Armed bandits have reportedly invaded Igbesi community in the Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, abd¥cting the traditional ruler, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land.

Igbesi is a community within Oke-Onigbin town in the Isin Local Government Area of Kwara South Senatorial District.

The att@ck reportedly occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, when the armed assailants stormed the community.

According to a local source, the monarch was taken to an unknown location during the att@ck, while some residents were also reportedly abd¥cted.

“As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of victims and the whereabouts of the abd¥cted monarch remained unclear,” the source said.

However, the Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abd¥ction of the traditional ruler.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, who confirmed the development, dismissed reports that other residents were k+dnapped, saying no other person was abd¥cted.

The police boss said security operatives were making efforts to rescue the monarch.

“The narrative of att@cks within the past 24 hours is far from the truth; nothing of such,” he said.
