We can do better. In fact, we should do better.
My fellow tailors, this is for you 📌
I saw a post from someone who was disappointed by her tailor. She didn't get her Eid outfits, and the tailor wasn't saying anything. As I went through the comments, I saw many people sharing similar experiences.
Honestly, I felt disappointed 😌
How do you stay calm knowing someone is waiting for their Eid outfit and hoping that, at the very latest, it will be delivered on Eid morning?🤦🏼♀️
I'm not perfect myself, but one thing I always try to avoid is disappointing my customers.
I am human, and I know how that feels.
I don't overestimate myself, and I don't take on more than I can handle.
This past Eid, I had several sleepless nights. I worked day and night. I explored different alternatives like using a charcoal stove/iron, running a generator, and even paying my sisters to help out. Not for anything else, but to ensure that everyone who ordered from me received their outfit on time.
In fact, I had to put my own family's outfits last on the list. They understand, even though that's not always nice.
My point is this: if nothing goes wrong and nothing beyond your control happens, please do your best to deliver for your customers. And if there's need for explanations, don't hesitate to let your customers know.
When you do, you build trust, loyalty, returning customers, referrals, and so much more.
As for me, Naphie'O', I do my best not to disappoint, and by Allah's grace, l will continue to do my best not to disappoint and serve my customers well ✅
Dear readers, if you've ever been disappointed by a tailor, I'm sorry about your experience. I pray you don't experience such again.
And as a tailor, if you've ever disappointed your customers, I want to believe it wasn't intentional.
Once again, my fellow tailors, let's do better.
May Allah help us and ease all our affairs.
Aameen.
