How I Balance Night Shifts and Sewing Patterns

People ask me all the time: "How do you do it? Nursing is hard enough—how do you run a fashion business too?"

Truthfully? Some days I don’t have the answer. I just follow my why.

I wake up at 6 AM before an afternoon shift to finish sewing an order. I answer customer inquiries during my lunch breaks. I source fabrics on my days off instead of sleeping in.
But I wouldn’t trade this beautiful chaos for anything.

Because in both worlds, I serve people. One world brings healing to the body; the other brings beauty to the soul. And that’s a balance I’m proud of.

The Day I Found My Purpose

I still remember how nervous I was the first time I was ready a buy my first fabric from aboki that hawks past my madam's shop. My heart beat faster with every step between the colorful stacks he had with him.

I was on uniform that day, carrying a tiny envelope of my hard-earned money from shifts.

The smell of fresh dye filled the air. He called out prices, patterns danced before my eyes, and all I could do was smile.
I had just started learning how to sew professionally, and I knew I loved it. I bought 5 yards of bold Ankara prints that day, and as I carried those fabrics back to the shop, I held a new beginning in my hands.

That fabric wasn’t just material. It was courage, creativity, and a reminder that life can surprise you if you dare to step outside your comfort zone.

Where Scrubs Meet Silk

As a nurse, I wore blue scrubs every single day. Functional, practical, but not always beautiful. I used to wonder, why must comfort and beauty be separate?

One day, while helping a patient adjust her hospital gown, I thought: “Clothes impact how we feel. What if I could create pieces that made women feel seen, strong, and joyful—both inside and out?”

I already knew how to sew, so I thought why not put that into good use. I had the will, my hands, and the desire to make something beautiful out of the ordinary.

So I started designing off-duty looks for my colleagues; wrap dresses, wide-legged pants, aseobi. Pieces that spoke joy, culture, and freedom. Then we started adding style to their stories with our premium quality fabrics.

I realized that just like nursing, fashion is about comfort and confidence. It’s about service..
