Aleksandra Gaca Textile Design

Aleksandra Gaca Textile Design Innovative textile designs at the intersection of art, design and architecture. The fabrics are suitable to all disciplines: from fashion to architecture.

Textile designer Aleksandra Gaca is fascinated by weaving technique and three-dimensional constructions. Experiments with self-made weaves and unusual materials have generated innovative fabric structures. Through this unique combination of weave and material she strives to achieve an as yet undiscovered added value. In her work she is continuously seeking the cutting edge between autonomous art,

design and spatial design. STUDIO

Wishing everyone a happy and inspiring new year, one I hope is filled with many joyful moments for you to treasure. I was thankful to spend the closing days of 2025 in the atmospheric woods of the Schwarzwald in Münstertal, Germany. Just long, breathtaking walks through frozen scenes of majestic silence, where the only movement came from breaking light and drifting mist. In that stillness, everything seemed to have a poetic presence, as if nature itself, like me, had also withdrawn into retreat. It was a beautiful reconnection.

Warmest holiday wishes! I hope your days are sparkling, filled with love, magic and joy.✨✨✨Aleksandra x📷 .matusiak

I’ve always been fascinated by abstract forms and techniques. Braiding offers so many possibilities, not just in the technique itself, but also in the structures it can create. This curiosity led to my earlier research into braiding structures, and the WOVEN BRAIDS series is one of the results from that process. The weave itself is flat, so to create a sense of dimension and movement, I played with colours and gradients within the bindings.

For the WOVEN BRAIDS Tea Towel Collection 2026, I’ve created six new colours composed into three duo sets: Natural Contrast, Fresh Harmony and Joyful Play. To discover more, head on over to the link in my bio.

Introducing the WOVEN BRAIDS Tea Towel Collection 2026. Six new colours composed into three curated duo sets: Natural Contrast, Fresh Harmony and Joyful Play.

WOVEN BRAIDS is a graphic pattern inspired by basket weaving, developed with an optical 3D effect. In each weave, two carefully selected yarn colours interact to create a quiet, changeant shimmer. Part of the permanent collection of the Stewart Program for Modern Design in Canada, this series offers a wonderful opportunity to bring a piece of my studio practice into everyday rituals.

A thoughtful gift or a refined touch for your own home, I hope they bring you the same quiet joy in daily life that I felt while creating them. Discover the new duo sets via the link in my bio.

Just one more week to see the remarkable Magdalena Abakanowicz triptych exhibition, ‘Everything is made of fibre’. Since my student days, I’ve always been fascinated by her imposing textile installations, the expressive handwoven textures, and her bold use of traditional materials. The way she saw textiles as a sculptural medium, exploring not only form but also its dynamic relationship with the surrounding space.

It was especially meaningful for me to have been invited by the Polish Ambassador to the Netherlands, Margareta Kassangana, in connection with this exhibition. At the Ambassador’s Day at the TextielMuseum back in May, I had the chance to give a presentation and share my work, for which my warmest thanks.

On Sunday 24 August, Museumgasten will focus on the work and legacy of Abakanowicz, with curator Sjouk Holtsma and special guest and co-curator .kowalewska.165, Chair of the Magdalena Abakanowicz Foundation and Chief Curator at the Central Museum in Łódź, Poland. A full screening of the special documentary on the exhibition will be shown, alongside unique archival footage offering an in-depth look at Abakanowicz’s practice. Reserve your ticket via .

The TANGO NEXT GENERATION weave for . The Spanish luxury brand has slow fashion and artisanal process as a foundation, and I wanted the textile itself to carry these values forward. Through the language of weaving, and carrying its rich traditions into today in a contemporary, soft sculptural expression that honours the brand’s iconic bubble surface.

A special collaboration with Spanish luxury brand : they invited me to reimagine the signature bubble texture of their iconic bag into a contemporary 3D textile.

The result is TANGO NEXT GENERATION: a limited-edition, oversized take on the classic Tango bag with a sculptural softness and woven structure that speaks both to artisanal heritage and modern design thinking.
