Christien Meindertsma came up with a way to use leftover fabric from the Gelderland furniture factory. A fabric horse, of which the selvedge of the fabric forms the mane, the tail consists of the chain removed from the fabric and the filling is residual material used in the production of the sofas. The legs are each fitted with a wooden claw used in manufacturing.

The Wrap Chair is new to Muuto's collection. And therefore also new to our Muuto Brandstore collection.
We had ordered it at random. Because since its introduction recently, we hadn't had the opportunity to try it somewhere.
But Muuto does not disappoint us! It is wide enough to snuggle into it. And the armrests invite you to throw your legs over it. Leg rests, actually;) Great design Normal Studio!
We ordered it in a solid green Kvadrat Hallingdal with light grey frame. This makes it a cheerful type in our shop.
The Silent Chairs await the rest of their family: a table, bench and stool, arriving in a few weeks. Meanwhile they are at the Trestle Table. Above the table hangs the beautiful new Twilight lamp and in the background you can see the Flip Desk, flipped out;) Above the desk hangs the Koch Mirror. When Arjan from brought the desk, he thought the combination with the mirror was a daring one ;)
Almost everything is made in the Netherlands. Only the chairs are from Denmark and the mirror from Germany.
At first, this looks like an ordinary wooden beam. But there appears to be a cord on it. As soon as you press the button, light comes on... A light fixture made of spruce.
The incorporated light source bursts out of the spruce beam while accentuating the characteristic grain pattern giving the spruce and your space a warm and well-lit glow.
Roy de Regt thinks that spruce is undervalued and wants to bring the beauty of the material to the surface with the FIR(e) collection.

It is all in the word.. this desk flips open and closed.
Before you close it, store your things in the compartments. Even your laptop fits inside. Smart idea from Charles O. Job & Vij5 for small householders or as an extra workstation in a lost corner. And a nice detail: the wooden hinge is inspired by a laptop hinge. It ensures the entire worktop is free to work on.

Chair Klaas gives our guests a comfortable seat in our small guest room.
Klaas is originally a graduation project of Floris Hovers at Designacademy Eindhoven The idea arose from his fascination with how people temporarily solve and fix things. The tension construction is an ancient principle. Twisting up the rope fixes the chair.
It looks great with the fifties school cupboard next to it and the Roros Blanket over it.

The Marenco Chair and the Swell Sofa opposite each other. In terms of design language, they have something in common. Unlike most of its contemporaries, the Swell Sofa is a sofa you can sit in just fine and is less of a "lounge sofa. The Marenco Chair (1970) is a nice soft chair to retire to with a good book. The bright orange Zebe Table keeps them apart. And there it is... the Presley Candle, just unpacked.

On it ways to The Hague... The cheerful items of Atelier Toit. Atelier Toit continues to experiment and explore the beaten track. The pieces are unique or made in very limited editions.
They are handmade in their own atelier in Amsterdam, piece by piece.
Contrary to what you might expect perhaps, the interior in our home is not based on the shop's collection, but on pieces that have been in the family for years. Furniture from the sixties and seventies, as well as antiques. And we complete that with contemporary items... from the shop, of course;)
The block cabinet is from the Maisa brand, which no longer exists as far as I know. avant la lettre ;)
The wooden gun raises questions for many. With this object, which you get as a block box, designer wants to draw attention to the issue of child soldiers.
A new sofa in the shop. Although... not really new, but it still feels like new to us. And it's the latest model of sofa from &Tradition. High on its legs, making it seem to float. We think it's a model that will last a very long time and won't get boring. Our model has leather upholstery. But it is also available in numerous fabrics.
On the floor is the Braid rug. Made of 88% recycled polyster.
And on the wall you can see the new Tramonto lamps. Tramonto is the Italian word for sunset. The shapes were first painted on paper and then literally translated into the new material.
In his studio, Lex Pott has been folding, cutting, bending and punching paper for years. Now it's finally time to make something with it. A family of faces.
Sometimes you see an animal in it, sometimes maybe someone you know. At least it makes us happy.

Personally, I don't manage to keep my desk tidy. There are always little things floating around and having no fixed place. The Sketch Toolbox turns out to be quite handy to use. For lazy people like me, who often find opening a drawer too much trouble, this is a handy solution. And if you want to work somewhere else for a while, you can easily take it with you. It even has a handle!

a favorite at home. the Carter Vase by Floris Hovers.
The typical imagery of cast engine blocks, crankcases and (gear) housings formed a basis for the Carter Vase.
Whereas engine blocks and housings are predominantly cast from aluminium or steel, Floris Hovers opted for casting clay. Engine blocks and housings are often sealed with a gasket and then, as in this vase, bolted together.
The dining table version from the Eiermann series. Well-priced and with plenty of legroom. This version was created in 1965 when the original 1953 design was adapted for the Kalsruhe University of Applied Sciences. And also with this version a great choice of colour combinations.

When our new kitchen was ready, I treated myself to a pair of Grace of Glaze plates and bowls. The purple shades work perfectly with the grey Dtitles from the coffeestation.

Katrijn is a graduation project (2014) by designer Floris Hovers. The concept originated from his fascination with how people solve and fix this provisionally. The construction of tightened rope is based on a age old principle. The chair is held together by a tightened rope, which gives it a powerful visual aspect.
Katrijn is also part of a solo exhibition by Floris 'The Kunst van het Spelen' in Museum Jan in Amstelveen.

Bijna weer open! We hebben de afgelopen maanden gebruikt om de winkel eens flink op te knappen. Zo is er een doorgang gemaakt tussen de beide panden. Niet meer verplicht door de tuin dus;) en hebben we alle vloeren geschilderd. De grote balie is vervangen door een kleiner exemplaar. De tuinkamer is nog niet af, maar verandert langzaam in een plek voor stalen en heeft een tafel voor overleg. Hard nodig met alle aanvragen voor Interieuradvies de laatste tijd. Kom je kijken?
