Can you believe this? When visiting Didier Laforest's new workroom in Caussade, I suddenly saw a print of one of my hats on his note board - the same hat I was wearing at that moment. :)

Last week somebody asked me to post some pictures of my atelier, so here they are. Now I'm curious, what does your workroom look like?
At the Pasejada amb Barret in Barcelona. As the weather forecast predicted rain, I thought it might be better to make a parasisal hat with thermoplastic base and bow - very rain proof. Thank you Carole Maher for sharing this technique!
Visiting Marianne Jongkind's atelier together with Carole Maher. My apologies for blocking the view to Marianne's beautiful vintage materials collection in the background. : )
At the beginning of this week I've visited Cappello Hoedenspeciaalzaak to deliver some hats, and to take photos of their collection for a Hatlines article. And all of a sudden I found myself on the other side of the camera, modelling a beautiful Borsalino hat.
Last Saturday was the Annual Hat Day of the Dutch Hat Association, so I have been a whole day behind my camera again. To shoot the members' new creations, but also to teach other milliners how to make this kind of photos themselves.
Goodwood Revival 2017, with a lot of wind, rain & mud - and also a lot of great outfits!
We have had 2 great weeks in Australia! I learned a lot at the Hats off to Adelaide convention, but also in Melbourne where we have visited several milliners, hat shops, suppliers, a fashion institute and the Milliner Association of Australia. This was the first time we visited Australia and it will certainly not be the last time!
What a treat visiting both House of Adorn and Torb and Reiner in one day! My suitcase is already bursting at the seams, but I had to buy more materials of course...
Visiting Louise Macdonald in Melbourne for a 'Workroom technique'-article in The Hat Magazine.
At the races in Adelaide, Australia!
With Elly from at the raceday luncheon. I met lots of keen milliners , made new friends, shared some skills and am now heading home to Melbourne to get ready for
No matter how many visitors there are at Ascot, somehow Michela Ceccarini and I always manage to bump into each other. :)
Visit to Ascot 2017, this year with an official badge for the photography!
Managed to finish my hat in time, the weather report predicts nice temperatures & sunshine; it's going to be a lovely Ladies Day at Ascot again!
The 13th Passejada amb Barret - Paseo con Sombrero - Stroll with a Hat in Barcelona! First time I've visited a hat event with the whole family. We've seen a lot of lovely hats and met a lot of wonderful milliners!
More photos in the summer issue of Hatlines magazine.
Last week we've been to Switzerland to visit the factory of Tressa Geflechtfabrik AG. They produce great straw braid in many colours and qualities. Of course I couldn't resist to bring home some extra stock!
In the summer edition of Hatlines (no. 58) you'll find an article about the production of the Swiss straw braid.
Every now and then, you just have to make something big(ger than you're used to).
And here is the same mannequin head again, with a new colour and a new hat!
This mannequin head was repainted in a shiny copper colour when I bought her last week. With some sticker remover and a lot of elbow grease she has been brought back to her original colour.
Next step: off-white spray painting.
Looks like winter has finally started - it's cold outside! Time for some nice warm felts.
I'm really pleased with the tablecloths I made for the presentation of my collection at fairs & markets. This is at the Christmas Fair in Huis Doorn last weekend.
You can find a lot of useful tools for millinery work in your kitchen. My steamer spits - even after cleaning - every now and then some water. By tying an empty teabag over the nozzle you avoid getting hot drops of water in your felt or on your hands.
By attaching a whisk to a stand, you can steam your felts safely for five or ten minutes without burning your fingers to the steam or getting stains in your felt from the nozzle. When done use a skimmer to get the steamed felt of the stand without getting burned by the steam.
We had just enough time to join all other hat lovers on the London Hatwalk last Sunday, before we had to fly back to the Netherlands again.
More photos of the Hatwalk in the winter-edition of Hatlines (no. 56).
This year I've visited the London Hat Week together with other members of the Nederlandse Hoeden Vereniging - Dutch Hats Association. We have had a great trip! With lovely company, good food, interesting exhibitions, great new contacts and a very, very instructive workshop by Ian Bennett!
Armed with a press card for Het Binnenhof, Susan Dekker (Esdee Hoeden) and I could spot and photograph last Tuesday all hats at Prinsjesdag first hand!
Look at that! Running around to finish all last details for the PrinsjesHatwalk hat show, I didn't have a lot of time to be at my stand at the market. But a reporter of the regional television did! And filmed a client who was buying a hat: the item starts at 3m12s.

The organising ladies of the PrinsjesHatwalk!
En na een heel jaar van plannen en voorbereiden was het gisteren dan zover: om 12.00 uur ging de 2016-editie van de PrinsjesHatwalk van start!

A whole year of planning and organising resulted yesterday at noon in the start of the PrinsjesHatwalk 2016!
Friday we have stepped back in time at The Goodwood Revival, a must-visit for everybody who loves vintage! More photos will be shown in one of the next editions of Hatlines.
Les Estivales du Chapeau is a great event to meet all sorts of hat designers. Every year is a joyful mix of seeing familiar faces again as well as meeting new ones!
Day 1 at Les Estivales du Chapeau in Caussade. Final step: sewing labels and petersham ribbons to the inside of the en-route-finished hats, with the help of a lovely thimble from Russia, a gift from Natalia Borisova Millinery.
Spotted in Caussade at the Festivales du Chapeau 2016!
Unfortunately the hat I made for the hat competition in Caussade disappeared somewhere in the black hole called 'postal services'. I hope it will show up again somewhere in France or The Netherlands in the next couple of weeks.
On our way to Les Estivales du Chapeau in Caussade I managed to finish some extra hats!
Maria Etkind turned out to be a great bookie. Without any knowledge of horses and racing she made great profits at Ascot.
Our visit to Ascot was really wonderful. We saw a lot of great hats, several familiar faces, and despite the bad weather forecast and dark skies, not a drop of rain!
