💚 Green Friday at the Sorting Department 💚

Today we're marking Green Friday – our monthly tradition on the first Friday of every month.

We start the day by encouraging everyone who can walk or bike to work. 🚲

Then we cleaned up our workplace where it was needed the most, as well as in the local area around it. ♻️

After that, we gather for a shared lunch in the sorting department. 🌭

Today we're enjoying our lunch together with the crew from Health Workers AS and FØNIX AS 💚

⭐️ We’re proud to share the results of an important test with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency! ⭐️

Together with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency, we tested and developed a secure and responsible way to handle selected discarded textiles, while opening the door to circular solutions in the defence sector.

Through this project, we:
- Removed non-textile components for safe recycling
- Applied two recycling methods: defibring and secure destruction with energy recovery
- Identified key insights for future circular textile flows

Why this matters:
This project proves that even complex textile streams can be managed responsibly and turned into valuable resources. It’s a significant step toward building a circular value chain for textiles. ♻️

✨A Landmark Year for NTGAS✨

2025 was a year defined by innovation, collaboration, and important milestones. We took big steps toward a more circular textile industry and are proud of the progress with our partners.

• Expanded collaboration and launched new projects to drive innovation in sorting and recycling
• Invested in a fibre analysis machine to strengthen quality and documentation
• Launched Circle of Change, a film showcasing the journey from textile waste to new fibres
• Increased industry presence through major projects and forums

• Developed the textile tower with Vesar and Kirkens Bymisjon – an efficient textile collection solution
• Worked with LOOP Stiftelsen and Loggit to improve sorting and logistics

♻️ Our project with Loggit – the first consumer bags have arrived! ♻️

We’ve received the very first bags from the Loggit project – an initiative that makes it easy for consumers to send in clothes and textiles for reuse or material recycling.

This is an important step toward a more circular textile economy in Norway.

➡️ Here’s what we’ve seen so far:

- Bags are coming from all over the country – from Flekkefjord in the south to Tromsø in the north.

- Most of the contents can be recycled or reused, but we also see that almost 19% consists of textiles that cannot be used further. This shows how important proper sorting and consumer awareness really are.

Remember: socks, underwear, damaged multilayer clothes, and broken shoes should go in general waste – they cannot be reused or recycled.

Together with Loggit, we’re making it easier for everyone to contribute from their home to a greener future.

This is just the beginning – and we look forward to sharing more insights soon!

Enkel innsamling av tekstiler - Fra tekstil til nye fibre

Sammen med Loggit lanserer vi et nytt system som gjør det enklere for kommuner og innbyggere å ta ansvar – og gi tekstiler nytt liv. ♻️

I Sandefjord driver Norsk Tekstilgjenvinning Norges første anlegg for tekstil-til-tekstilgjenvinning.

Her sorterer og bearbeider vi tekstilene sikkert, slik at materialet kan gå tilbake i verdikjeden og bli til nye produkter.

Med moderne teknologi – blant annet et nytt sorteringsbånd med kunstig intelligens – øker vi kvalitet og presisjon.

Prosessen er mekanisk, helt uten kjemisk nedbrytning – og fibrene kan brukes på nytt i tekstilproduksjon.

Vi er utrolig stolte av å bli anerkjent for vårt arbeid med å gi tekstiler nytt liv gjennom innovative løsninger.

Denne prisen er en stor bekreftelse på verdien av arbeidet vårt og viser hvor viktig der er å tenke nytt rundt gjenbruk og gjenvinning.

🤔Hvor kaster vi våte og skitne tekstiler?🤔 Sorter og kast riktig!

Visste du at våte og skitne tekstiler skal i restavfallet?

Når slike tekstiler havner i tekstiltårn, ødelegger de hele partier med ellers brukbare klær og verdifulle ressurser går tapt.

Slik sorterer du riktig:
✅ Rene og tørre klær/ tekstiler so kan brukes → til gjenbruk
✅ Rene og tørre klær/ tekstiler som ikke kan repareres → til gjenvinning
✅ Våte og skitne tekstiler → i restavfallet
✅ Sokker, undertøy, ødelagte sko, vesker og belter → også i restavfallet

Did you know that wet and dirty textiles should go in the general waste?

When these kinds of textiles end up in textile collection bins, they can ruin entire batches of otherwise usable clothing, and valuable resources are lost.

Here’s how to sort correctly:
✅ Clean and dry clothes/ textiles that can be used → for reuse
✅ Clean and dry clothes/ textiles that cannot be repaired → for recycling
✅ Wet and dirty textiles → in the general waste
✅ Socks, underwear, damaged shoes, -bags, and -belts → also in the general waste

♻️ Samarbeid gir sirkulære tekstilstrømmer ♻️

I går stod Pål Erik Haraldsen på scenen under årskonferansen sammen med Kaia E. Ross Lind og Hege Stenmarck fra Vesar og Kirkens Bymisjon for å løfte frem viktigheten av sirkulære løsninger for tekstiler.
Samarbeid på tvers av kommuner, ideelle organisasjoner, renserier og vaskerier er helt avgjørende for å få fart på gjenvinningen.

For oss i Norsk Tekstilgjenvinning handler det ikke bare om å samle inn tekstiler – vi er også avhengige av effektiv sortering for å sikre forutsigbare volum til produksjonen.
Samtidig må vi utvikle og sikre markeder for fibrene vi produserer – en utfordring i en bransje som fortsatt er i en tidlig fase.

Vi heier på alle initiativer som gjør tekstilgjenvinning mulig – og ser frem til flere gode samtaler! 🤩

♻️ Collaboration Creates Circular Textile Flows ♻️

Yesterday, Pål Erik took the stage at the annual conference alongside Kaia and Hege from Vesar and Kirkens Bymisjon to highlight the importance of circular solutions for textiles.
Collaboration across municipalities, nonprofit organizations, dry cleaners, and laundries is absolutely essential to accelerate recycling efforts.

For us at NTG, it’s not just about collecting textiles—we also depend on efficient sorting to ensure predictable volumes for production.
At the same time, we must develop and secure markets for the fibres we produce—a challenge in an industry that is still in its early stages.

We support all initiatives that make textile recycling possible—and look forward to more great conversations! 🤩
