I could not knit for several months since Rick died. Rick was my boyfriend of 7 years. I just could not sit alone. The trip to Norway in June 2023 helped my focus. There I knitted the first test copy of my latest design for larger ( # 7 US) needles. My friend Julie modeled it by the wall of the 12th century chapel in Sola, Norway.

Accidental abstract art.

From my archives, 2018: I was very preoccupied with earflaps. These are two final designs of caps with earflaps. On the left is the right side of the cap, on the right is the cap of the same design, but inside out. I used my favorite Judy's invisible cast on, since it produces such lovely, seamless joint between inner and outer layers.

The previous version of this model was red-and-gray, this version in gray-blue colors, without ribbing. Such a noble combination of colors. I used Alpakka by Sandnes Garn, which is thick, fluffy and soft. Perfect for the colorwork on large needles.

The third time is a charm! This design is for larger needles ( #5 US). The crown was a particular challenge: I had to change completely the base diagonal pattern and make this change to fit organically.
I did not like the first version because it lacked the rhythm and lightness: the foreground (red) shapes look disjoint.
I used Alpakka by Sandnes Garn.
