**Kākahu Manaaki is the business behind AMBRIANA™** — my journey, simple initiatives, family, Whanganui ideas, and years of lived experience and mahi within our community.
Even the names have a story.
**AMBRIANA™** was created by combining Irish ancestral names from my father's side of the family.
**Kākahu Manaaki** was chosen from my mother's side, carrying meaning that reflects the values behind the business.
But before there was a name, there was an idea.
Through my lived experiences and years of being on the ground in our community, I wanted to design something that could help **protect the wearer from the elements and the environment around them** — something they could put on and feel **safe, warm and protected**.
A lot of thought went into this design.
The journey involved working alongside designers, developing the concept, refining the details, making decisions, overcoming challenges and spending many months bringing the vision to life.
Every part of the design was considered, including our **2-in-1 design with a sleep extension for times of rest** — providing additional coverage when it's time to rest, while continuing to offer warmth, comfort and protection.
What began as a simple idea grew into something much bigger.
Today, we are proud to introduce **AMBRIANA™**.Modeled by Abigail & Jai ❤️

There is another important part of our story.
Alongside Kākahu Manaaki, we have our separate **not-for-profit community initiative, Hope - Mobile Laundry & Shower.
Hope was also **thought of, designed and created right here at home in Whanganui — starting on our own lawn** — and grew from lived experiences and **seven years of being on the ground in our community**.
For the past **three years, we have operated free community services**, completely **volunteer-led and volunteer-operated**, providing practical support including mobile showers, clothing, hygiene essentials and other community initiatives.
Those years of lived experience and on-the-ground mahi have shaped the values behind what we create.
And this is where our journeys connect.
**Both visions began right here, at home in Whanganui.**
One became a not-for-profit community initiative.
The other became a New Zealand-made clothing brand.
Both began with a simple idea, a desire to help, and a belief that something meaningful could be created from home.
