My entry for The Fabric Store WIP Weekend!!
I started making this bomber jacket back in December of 2024, but only made it as far as cutting out all the main pieces in upcycled woollen fabrics. Inspired by the long Easter challenge set by The Fabric Store, I picked up the pieces (no pun intended) and finally finished it!!
Upon completing this jacket, reflecting on my design choices, and noting how my design style has changed in just over a year, I've found humour in the fact that this garment doesn't really align with my own personal clothing style and overall aesthetic. In a way, I wish I had just finished it all the way back in 2024 so I could happily wear it, instead of looking at it with a sense of dislike and disconnection. On the other side, I find it so interesting to see the evolution of my designs and how something that once captured my "aesthetic" now no longer serves me the same. I'm going to continue brainstorming to find ways I can change or re-decorate this garment in a way that I can confidently wear it but until then, here is a garment from sewing past!!
I used the Bomber Jacket pattern from Papillon Society on Etsy; this was my second time using the pattern after making a bomber jacket for a Christmas present, and found the instructions really easy to work with, would highly recommend!!
