The Fibre Arts Festival was always about more than making - it was about slowing down, connecting, and letting fibre arts remind us what really matters: patience, presence and people.

So maybe you’ve noticed a change, we’re now ‘The Fibre Things in Life’.

We’re still taking that same philosophy and moving it to this place we call home - Ōtautahi, Christchurch.

At ‘The Fibre Things in Life’, you’re welcomed into a beautiful city villa that’s all ours for the weekend - warm, character-filled and set up for you to unwind. You’ll spend your days weaving, learning, exploring local culture and connecting with others, while being looked after with nourishing meals, home baking and thoughtful little touches you didn’t even know you needed.

It’s about balance - doing and dreaming, learning and lounging. Whether you’re a goer or a napper (or both!), you’ll leave feeling full - like you’ve had a true break, with new friends and new ideas to take home.

It’s a weekend for slowing down, filling your cup and finding the fibre things that really matter.

At the heart of everything we do is whakawhanaungatanga - which is the Māori value of building genuine connection and belonging. It shapes every part of our gatherings: from sharing kai and stories, to learning from each other, to celebrating our culture together.

Details:
🗓️ First weekend: Friday 9th – Tuesday 13th January 2026
💰 Packages start at $2,000 NZD (excluding flights)
👥 Limited to 13 guests per weekend

Spaces are cosy and spots are few - come enjoy the fibre things in life with us.

Kia ora! How are you?

So it's been awhile.

We're all living back in Aotearoa, NZ and someone mentioned how cool it would be to bring the festival back.

Who can imagine a Fibre Arts Festival here in Aotearoa... 🤔

So it's been a while since we last talked and a lot has changed.

We've been thinking about the festival and it's future. We have some amazing fibre friends who have been asking us and wanting us to run another event. We're still not sure how, where or if this is even possible?

So, that's what this post is for. We dont believe that 2021 is viable for us not only emotionally, but also due to some changes in our world.

How would November, 2022 sound with you?

Should we start to plan another gathering and would you like to join us? Would you actually come?

Please leave a comment so we know you're still out there.

We miss you all.

Alice & Luke ♥️

I know you have been probably wondering so we just wanted to update you on where we currently stand with the Fibre Arts Festival.

As you would have seen around the country a lot of major events have been forced to make some big, sad decisions in regards to their events' future.

We have also been forced to make a tough decision.

There are various factors to take into consideration when running an event, especially during these unprecedented times. There is not just the unknown factors of ' approved gatherings' or 'social distancing measures' but also other factors that directly impact the viability of the event such as travel costs for our participants, accommodation costs as well as personal economic factors that directly impact our ticket sales and therefore our viability to create the infrastructure needed to run the Festival.

We also have people flying in from all over Australia, NZ and other parts of the world which as you know is a complete unknown.

So, sadly we have made the decision to cancel our 2020 event.

We will be refunding all participants and you have been sent an email, so please check your messages.

We may look at future events, but again this is a decision that will be made when the dust settles.

Thanks so much for your ongoing support and hopefully we can look at a new and improved festival in the future.

Stay safe and hopefully we will see you all again soon.

So, this virus. We are living in strange times aren't we.

We are seeing a lot of information and misinformation in regards to how and what we should do, especially when it comes to gatherings of people. As Event Directors we have a duty of care to you and to our volunteers and facilitators. Something we take very seriously through our planning and preparations.

We are seeing gatherings and major events cancelling or rescheduling and we understand why. We get it.

But we want to reassure you that the festival will continue as planned. We will continue to plan and prepare, book and secure our facilitators and create an amazing experience. But. Yes, there is a but.

We will also prepare for the worst, as no one knows the future or can predict how this may impact us all in November.

So, we want to reassure you that if you have already booked your ticket, or do decide to book, and for some reason we are unable to go ahead with the festival due to reasons beyond our control then you will be given a full refund for your ticket, less a $35 booking and administration fee.

We will re evaluate the impacts in August.

We care about you, your wellbeing and we still want this to happen. I think we all need these gatherings to happen, more than ever.

We will also work with the venue to make sure we prepare and create a safe, clean and healthy environment and put extra cleaning and hygiene measures in place.

So please stay strong, stay informed and don't panic. Remember that we all have fears and anxieties and we need to stay calm, show compassion, love and respect for one another. A chance to get our families and communities closer, rather than further a part.

Thank you for your continuing support and we hope to see you this November where we can hug and have a laugh at what a crazy 2020 we've had.

This happy human is Gaille and she is the Editor of Indie Road Magazine. ()

Gaille has been such an amazing supporter of us and the festival and we have joint forces this year (like fibre art superheroes) to put together a HUGE competition!

It has a total prize pool of over $4,000 worth of Fibre Arts magic! 😍

We have donated 2 x tickets to the Festival AND 3 x nights accommodation in a beautiful Glamping tent thanks to our friends at Pitch Luxury Camping.

But there's soooo much more! Like a 1 year subscription to Indie Road Magazine!

For the full prize list, information, t's and c's, and how to enter this crazy Fibre Arts prize, visit the website: indieroad.com.au/competition

Good luck and make sure you tag your friends so if they win they'll bring you!
