I am a Christchurch Mum of three who started Millie Blue in 2014 making framed paper dresses, designing clothing and stocking great on trend jewellery. The change of season has me looking at lighter layers, and the shape of these cotton pants really caught my eye.

They're 100% cotton, a crisp white and have that lovely loose, barrel-leg shape that would be perfect for warmer days.

I tried them with a more fitted tank top because when I'm wearing a wider shape on the bottom, I like to keep the top a little more fitted. It gives the outfit some balance and makes the whole look feel more intentional.

And I think white pants can work really well with layers too. Especially here in New Zealand, where we can have all the seasons in one day! Layering is a great way to stay warm while adding interest to an outfit.

I'm really liking these… I think they might have a place in my wardrobe.

Imposter syndrome we all have it sometimes

Life changes, we change and sometimes those changes make us think differently, show up differently and question whether we really know what we’re doing.

I’m certainly not immune to it.

There are times I’ve walked into a store tried on clothes and wondered if I really know what suits me or whether I can actually pull something off but I’ve learnt that sometimes you just have to try things on new styles, new colours, different sizes – because that’s how you discover what feels right for you now.

You don’t have to know exactly who you’re becoming before you start showing up as her.

One of those pieces that gives you so many options.

A sheer top adds softness to an outfit, a layer without the bulk.

I’ve worn mine here with a tank and a blazer but I would also wear it with a lace bralette or silk cami, different pants or shorts or layered over a summer dress.

If you have gap in your wardrobe perhaps a sheer top could fill it. Just ask yourself how many ways you could wear it with things you already own?

Play with proportions, texture and colour.

An oversized patterned shirt, broderie shorts and black accessories.

Try oversized with fitted, pattern with pattern, or colour with darker or lighter accessories.

One of the easiest ways to find what you like and understand your style better is to get into your wardrobe and have a play.

Try on pieces you haven't worn for a while. Put things together in ways you haven't tried before. You might be surprised by what suddenly feels right.

And as you're doing it, notice the pieces that no longer feel like you or fit the style you have now. Those are the pieces you might be ready to let go of.
