This is my happy place. 🧵 About Mama Bev’s Creations
Kia ora! I’m Bev—a proud Tokoroa maker with a heart full of fabric and a head full of stories. Mama Bev’s Creations began while I was living in Australia, dreaming up something special, breathable, and cool for little ones in the heat. Every piece is stitched from 100% cotton fabric I personally brought back home to New Zealand—chosen with care

and crafted with love. Now based in Tokoroa, I create whimsical children’s clothing and heartfelt adult wear, all made solo with laughter, warmth, and a dash of local pride. From cheeky critter rompers to cozy vests and dresses, each item celebrates the joy of dressing with meaning. Whether you’re popping by for market updates, new designs, or just a friendly yarn, I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s wear our stories, share a smile, and support handmade magic together.

Hi there
I know I’ve been a little quiet on here lately. Life’s been busy and I’ve had a few other things happening, so posting has been a bit slower than usual. But I’m still here, still creating, and easing myself back into the sewing groove.

If you’ve got any ideas or things you’d love to see me sew next — big or small — I’d really love to hear them. Your suggestions always spark the best projects and keep the creativity flowing.

Thanks for sticking with me and supporting my wee handmade world. You’re all amazing.

In New Zealand’s Parliament, a rare moment unfolded when Labour MP Tamati Coffey returned from paternity leave with his one-month-old son, Tūtānekai.
The baby, born through surrogacy, was with him during a live parliamentary session. As proceedings continued, the child needed attention. Instead of stepping out, Coffey walked over to Speaker Trevor Mallard and handed him the baby.
What followed was unexpected but seamless.
Mallard took the child, cradled him comfortably, and continued overseeing the session without interruption. At one point, he even fed the baby with a bottle while maintaining order in the chamber. The moment blended routine governance with something far more personal.
The room stayed focused, but the atmosphere shifted. There was a quiet acknowledgment of what was happening, something uncommon in such a formal setting.
Later, Mallard shared a photo of the moment, referring to the baby as a “VIP” who joined him in the Speaker’s chair. The image quickly spread, drawing attention from around the world.
Beyond the moment itself, it reflected a broader shift. Mallard had previously introduced changes to make Parliament more family-friendly, and this became a visible example of that effort in action.
It showed that even in the most structured environments, there is space for humanity.

✨ Update from Mama Bev ✨

Kia ora lovely friends,
Just popping in with a little update — my knee is healing steadily after the replacement, and I’m grateful for the progress so far. It’s a slow journey, but each step forward feels like a win.

I’m still not able to dive back into my clothing designs just yet, as keeping my knee bent in the same position is not good, but please know the creative spark is alive and well — just resting until I’m ready to bring new pieces to life.

Thank you all for your patience, kindness, and encouragement. Your support means the world while I focus on healing. 💛
