A huge honour to collaborate with the 1985 reunion committee in designing the graphics for our 40th reunion.

The theme: Cherishing The Past

The Concept:

The Big “1985”
The main symbol of a time that shaped us. The 90s and early 2000s were full of big changes, wild colours, and a vibe that’s hard to explain but easy to feel.

School & Local Nostalgia:
• NSS Uniforms — Green skirts, white shirts, brown shorts…our daily life, our friendships, and all the memories we made on the school grounds.
• Cool-C drink packets & OXO cubes — The ultimate after-school snack combo!
• SARS soft drink & Arrowmint gum — Two classic junk foods that have disappeared from the shops. Had to pay homage to them alongside Cool-C!
(Gone but never forgotten 😭😂)

90s Pop Culture & Fashion:
• Girls’ Farmers (Overalls) & Black Choker Necklaces — I dunno, the girls thot they were cool rocking one (or both) of these looks haha jokes
• Pop Music Explosion — The late 90s gave birth to many pop icons, but Britney Spears was everywhere; MTV, our CDs, our cassette 😂
• Power Rangers — well this is a staple in each house. Everyone has a memory of fighting over siblings and cousins to be a certain Ranger! 😂

90s Technology & Gadgets:
• Game Boy, Nintendo 64, Sega, PlayStation 1 — Our first taste of gaming adventures 😍
• CDs, Cassette Tapes, Sony Walkman, and MP3 Players — Recording songs off the radio, burning CDs, carrying bulky music players everywhere like it was normal life 😂
• VHS cassette tape - the only way to watch a movie before dvds. Each vhs only contains one movie 😂 imagine the vhs stacks 😂
• Kodak Cameras & Film Rolls — When every photo counted. You couldn’t see ur photos till it was developed and returned from overseas 🤦‍♂️
• Floppy Disks — If you know, you know 😭
• Bebo, MSN Messenger, Hotmail, Yahoo — After-school chats on slow dial-up, picking cringe email addresses we regret now 😂

Retro Aesthetic & Vibes:
• Lava Lamps, Rollerblades, Sling Shots, and the Letter ‘S’ — Just pure, 90s fun! (You know the S we all used to draw!)

You may recognize her as the model wearing the White Hoodie featuring the string-figure pattern from Collection #3 😊 She is in Nauru as part of the Samoan Youth delegation to perform and showcase their culture for our Independence celebrations.
