Ever since, I was always fond of anything handmade such as scrapbooks and collages. I would always have a personalized gifts for my family and friends. Fudifufu started three years ago (2014). At that time, my husband and I just tied the knot. While I was working as a nurse, I was considering of other ways on how to make extra earnings. One fine afternoon, I saw a pile of old swatches from my husb
and’s shop and out of curiosity I asked him what happens to all those swatches and "retaso". He simply answered that they use what they can, but throw the unusable ones away. Right then and there, the idea of recycling those old swatches began. I just thought that they were too precious to be thrown away in the garbage. So I started making bags. Those bags were all unique and one of a kind. Each bag is a patched work from my husband's retaso swatches and fabrics. I was grateful that not only was I able to make something new out of from someone's trash, I was also helping make the earth a cleaner place to live in. From then, I decided to expand and not limit my products from my husband's retaso. So I decided to take a risk and buy fabrics in Manila as well. I began to source out suppliers. From simple tote bags, I branched out and made knapsacks, passport organizers, baby bags and all sorts of bags that my clients would order. Now, 3 years after, I am still in love with what I do, and I am looking forward for more opportunities for Fudifufu.
