What Many Families with Autistic Children Go Through
Some days, the hardest part isn’t the therapy sessions,
the routines, or the constant learning.
It’s the looks.
The whispers.
The judgment when a child melts down in public and people assume it’s “bad parenting.”
It’s explaining over and over
to teachers, relatives, strangers
that our child isn’t being difficult.
𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗱.
It’s the exhaustion of advocating every single day,
while quietly worrying about the future:
Will they be accepted? Will they be safe? Will they be understood when we’re not around?
Families of autistic children are not asking for special treatment.
They’re asking for 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
For 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.
For a little grace.
Sometimes, the most powerful support isn’t advice,
it’s simply saying, “𝙄 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩.”
💬 If you know a family walking this path, be kind.
💙 Empathy can make a hard day lighter.
