Dogs enter a teenage phase at around 6 months old, which can make them moody and aggressive.
That’s why Kiana (Golden Chow) and Kelsey (Golden Retriever), both 9 months old… even a little play can quickly turn into a real fight, and unfortunately, both of them got injured this time.

This moody phase usually cools down between 12-18 months, especially with proper training and guidance.

Kiana is a Golden Chow (Golden Retriever × Chow Chow), which makes this phase more challenging. Chow Chows are known to be strong-willed and temperamental, while Golden Retrievers are naturally sweet and gentle. Right now, Kiana is learning to balance both traits, so even small disagreements can escalate quickly.

Kelsey, being a Golden Retriever, is naturally gentle and friendly, but since she is not spayed, her hormones can also contribute to fights. This combination of age, hormones, and personality explains why the fight happened and why it turned serious enough to cause injuries.

2-week-old puppies should NOT be bathed yet.
They cannot regulate their body temperature, and getting wet can make them sick.

Mother dogs clean their puppies by licking them, but if some areas are still dirty, gentle spot cleaning is okay.

Safe way to clean a 2-week-old puppy:
• Use unscented, alcohol-free wipes
• Gently wipe the face, paws, and bottom only
• Dry immediately and keep the puppy warm

Brushing facts:
• Very gentle needle brushing is okay
• Limit to 1–2 minutes
• Use light strokes with no pressure

Avoid:
• Shampoo or soap
• Soaking in water
• Blow dryers

Proper care at this stage protects their health and development.

They now have new vests with their names and our live contact number… just in case they decide to go on a solo adventure. 😅 We always make sure they’re easy to reach, especially since we often go to the park and practice off-leash. Better safe than sorry… and less panic for us too.
