This costume honors the Municipality of Cervantes by highlighting tapey, the traditional rice wine made from red rice that stands as one of the town’s most celebrated products and cultural symbols. Inspired by flourishing red rice, the design represents growth, abundance, and the careful process that transforms a simple grain into tapey—mirroring how Cervantes’ culture is nurtured by both elders and the youth. More than an attire, the costume tells a story of heritage and craftsmanship, celebrating tapey as a living tradition that connects the past and present while strengthening community identity.
