I never thought sewing would teach me so much beyond making clothes. 🪡

Before You Start Sewing, Remember This 🤍

You don't have to know everything before you begin.

You don't need the perfect sewing machine.
You don't need a big collection of fabrics.
You don't need to make perfect stitches right away.

You just need to be willing to learn.

Your first project might have mistakes.
Your measurements might not be perfect.
You might even have to unpick your stitches more than once. 😅

And that's okay.

That's how you learn.

Start with something simple.
Practice little by little.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes.

Because one day, you'll look at something you made and think:

I used to think sewing wasn't really for me.

Growing up, sewing was just something I saw my mom do every day. Fabrics, sewing machines, measurements, and customers were simply part of our life.

And honestly, before… I didn't really like it. 😅

I only learned because I wanted to help.

Then I entered high school and took Dressmaking. At first, sewing was just a school project.

But little by little, something changed.

Those projects weren't just projects anymore.

I was starting to make things for real people.

I started enjoying the feeling of finishing something and knowing, “Ako yung gumawa nito.” 🥹

I'm still learning. I still make mistakes. And I definitely still have moments when I ask myself, “Tama ba 'to?” 😂

But now, I can say that sewing has become a part of me.

And that's one of the reasons I created Zerah Sew Studio.

I want to share what I'm learning, what I've experienced, and eventually create simple resources for people who also want to learn how to sew.

Maybe you're a mom who wants to learn.

Maybe you're a student like me.

Or maybe you've always wanted to try but don't know where to start.

🧵 I Didn't Dream of Becoming a Dressmaker...

If I'm being honest...

Growing up, I never imagined that sewing would become such a big part of my life.

As a child, the sound of the sewing machine was something I heard almost every day because that's how our family made a living.

Back then, I only knew sewing as my mom's work.

I watched clothes being measured, cut, pinned, and sewn for different customers. It was simply part of our daily routine.

When I entered high school and took Dressmaking, everything slowly changed.

What started as school projects eventually became real clothes for real people.

Little by little, I realized...

There's something special about creating a piece of clothing from a flat piece of fabric.

It's not always easy.

Sometimes I still make mistakes.

Sometimes I have to remove stitches and sew them again.

But every finished piece reminds me that learning takes patience.

Looking back, I'm grateful I didn't give up.

Because today, sewing is no longer just something I learned.

It's something I've grown to love.

And now, I hope to share that same experience with anyone who wants to start their own sewing journey.
