SALUD CALBAYOG: Handog sa Hadang

Inspired by the Hadang Festival of Calbayog City, this costume honors the ancient ritual of thanksgiving. The intricate gold and red patterns on the bodysuit represent traditional Pintados tattoos, symbolizing the bravery and heritage of Samar’s early warriors. The bold red, pink, and black feathers capture the energy of the Hadang ritual dance, while the red offering pot represents the gifts presented to the spirits in gratitude for peace and a good harvest.

TINAPA

This radiant creation pays homage to our beloved tinapa, the heart and soul of our local heritage and livelihood. Crafted with intricate woven details and warm golden-amber tones, every element mirrors the iconic smoked fish that Calbayog is renowned for: the sculpted fish structures symbolize our bountiful coastal harvest, the traditional weaving echoes the time-honored methods passed down through generations of our skilled fishers and vendors, and the rich golden hues honor tinapa as our city’s precious treasure from the sea. More than a costume, it stands for our community’s resilience, industry, and deep gratitude to the waters that sustain us—celebrating tinapa not just as a delicacy, but as the enduring pride, identity, and spirit of the people of Calbayog City, Samar.
