WE ALL NEED TO BE A REFORMER
Grabbing a book of history, reading a work of a reformer and it is found that the history was marked by a big change and the nations then started flourishing.
The same happened with me when I was a student and I studied Syed Ahmed Khan, a reformer. I studied that he was profoundly concerned with the plight of Muslims of subcontinent and all his efforts were to bring renaissance for the nation. And I was of the view that his efforts exalted the nation and Muslims eventually got a separate territory and now we are living in a society where narrator writes only about the peace and tranquillity. But now I am grown up... feeling that the concern of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan is floating inside me too. The plight seems intact. Creation of a territory as an independent state is not a solution without devising a social system and currently around us this system screams:
Society is a concern!
Divisions are a concern, ignorance is a concern, nature of priorities is a concern, humanity is a concern, sense of responsibility is a concern, selfishness is a concern, materialism is a concern, short sightedness is a concern, wasteful use of resources is a concern, blaming others is a concern, clung to our comfort zone is a concern, Taking Namaz (prayers), Roza (fast), Hajj (pilgrim), Zakaat as a shelter to do other sins like lie, bribe, fraud, is a concern.
And I believe, unless these concerns are not addressed, Muslims will remain the worst nation despite of the fact that Islam is the best religion as was said by George Bernard Shaw:
“Islam is the best religion but Muslims are the worst followers.”
