For the last year or so, our clients have been reading about or hearing about short shirts being back, and keep asking us nervously whether this is true, and whether long is still "in".
Some don't realise it yet or some may disagree, but we think womenswear fashion in Pakistan has transcended beyond the main change in trend being just the length of one's shirt. The focus has finally shifted to the cut of the outfit, whether tailored, or paired with some pretty fantastic textiles and embroideries.
(It's never pointed out often enough, mind you, that where hand embroidery is concerned, Pakistan has the most skilled (read: best) craftsmen in the subcontinent, even the world. You're lucky if you have access to their craft. This is an art that needs continued support, despite the expense, lest it should die out!)
Though shorter can definitely look cute too, and it's great to have some variety, don't sweat it if you've invested in, or are looking to invest in outfits that sweep the floor, particularly outfits for grand affairs: balls, weddings and so forth. Longer lengths add grandiose to outfits and are worn world over for greater impact. Some cuts may be begging to go out of style, but length-wise anything goes, and will do for a long long time.
