Three names you’ll hear in every shawl shop — and what they mean at Attan:

1. Swati Shahtoosh — fine wool. It’s a trade name. It never comes from the chiru antelope.
2. Swati pashmina — the Salampur weavers’ name for their softest everyday wool weave.
3. Pashmina — when we use this word on its own, we mean real pashmina fibre.

If a seller can’t tell you which one you’re holding, that’s your answer.

Our Swati weaves come from the looms of Salampur. Our Kani, ring shawls and fine pashmina come from Kashmir. Every piece is photographed, named and priced by us.

One promise: we’ll always tell you what you’re buying. Wool is called wool. Pashmina is called pashmina.
