🎓 Spotlight on Manoella Guennes – designing interactive textiles that connect emotion, culture, and memory.

💡 What if textiles could change colour while telling stories, activating memories, and strengthening emotional bonds?

In this edition, Manoella shares how her PhD research combines smart materials and sustainable textile design to create interactive prints that go beyond aesthetics. Using thermochromic inks, these textiles respond to temperature, revealing hidden cultural symbols inspired by the heritage of migrant mothers and their children.

Through a research-through-design approach, users actively co-create these artifacts, transforming fabrics into meaningful interfaces that support emotional connection, cultural transmission, and shared experiences.

From “magic” colour-changing prints to storytelling through design, discover how innovation at 2C2T is redefining the role of textiles in our lives.
