No dia 19 de setembro, o DEPOZITO recebe Ysaline Ophoff, do Atelier Balancê, para um workshop dedicado à empreita de palma, uma técnica tradicional de cestaria do Algarve feita a partir das folhas secas da palmeira-anã.
Ao longo da tarde, Ysaline irá partilhar a história e o valor deste saber-fazer , da apanha à secagem da palma , e ensinar as diferentes etapas da técnica. Vamos aprender a entrançar as tiras de palma numa longa fita e, depois, a cosê-la até ganhar forma nas nossas mãos.
Uma oportunidade para aprender, fazer e contribuir para manter vivo um saber que atravessa gerações.

From palm leaves to our hands: an afternoon dedicated to learning an age-old craft. 🌿
On 19 September, Depozito welcomes Ysaline Ophoff of Atelier Balancê for a workshop dedicated to empreita de palma, a traditional basket-weaving technique from the Algarve using dried leaves of the dwarf palm.
Throughout the afternoon, Ysaline will share the history and value of this craft — from harvesting and drying the palm leaves to working with the finished material — and guide participants through each stage of the technique. We’ll learn how to braid strips of palm into a long band and then stitch it together to create a small basket or another form.
An opportunity to learn, make and help keep alive a craft passed down through generations.
