Our story
“Vintage is my passion and Cet Objet du Désir is my shop”
Hello and welcome everyone! I'm Cláudia, the "one-man-show" behind Cet Objet du Désir. I live in Porto and have a real obsession with mid century items. I brought this passion from England, a country that I visited a lot, along with my beloved big sis, who showed me the true vintage essence. In my early 20s, I've worked at some
shops, where clothing and accessories were always around. In the past years, I’ve started collecting so many vintage items that in 2014, I’ve decided to create a page to sell online. I went to some fairs and first started to sell some items, meanwhile, I collected more and more to sell by request, I even had a showroom in my own place and daydreamed about opening my own shop one day… gladly made it one year later...
The burlesque image of Dita Von Teese inspired the logo and the name was based on a movie from the eccentric filmmaker Luis Buñuel and led respectively to the 'face' and store name. All items are fine curated and true vintage from 30’s to 90’s, as well as retrô and designer brands. In the beginning I bough what liked most and pieces of everyday life from mid century, but the more I began to refine my idea of what I wanted my shop to be, I decided to be a little more choosy (of course). Buying everything in sight is fun and all, but at the end of the day, I was all over the place! I realized that the items I was the most drawn into and that had the most stories to tell were everyday items - things that were used by normal gals and boys on an regular basis. Things like cigarette cases, books, film & photography, vinyl, toilette items, eyewear, hats, bags, lingerie, clothing, shoes and accessories...
My shop is kind of like those historical museums that have a perfectly curated room from the past behind a big pane of glass. A trip to the 20th century, where the old parts remain a doom.... that's exactly what you'll find in my shop, lots of vintage finds!
