Imagine wanting a baby as much as you want a 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 pregnancy test.

That’s what a molar pregnancy is like — a surreal condition where a miscarriage can lead to one of the most stigmatised diagnoses: cancer.
(Thankfully, an almost 100% treatable one.)
Molar pregnancies are rare — and therefore, lonely.

It helps to believe that things happen for a reason, even if it’s just to learn, to face fears, and to put things into perspective. I’ve been lucky enough to come through it without needing any treatment.

I’m sharing this to mark my return and raise awareness.

Unpopular post: The end of the year and the first day of the new one weren’t filled with parties, drinks, or a cold dip in the sea with friends. Instead, I spent it at home alone with my babies, sleeping on the couch. It wasn’t the kind of start that defines a whole year, but it gave me time to appreciate how much life fits in a single year.

I finally walked away from corporate life and grew like never before. We faced a hard moment as parents when our baby got pneumonia for the second time and had to stay in the PICU. One month later, we baptised him at home. We didn’t travel much, but we stayed at the beach until 8 p.m. for old times’ sake. Our house was full of friends and family throughout spring, summer, fall and winter. We lost ancient trees in our garden and lived through the worst fires in Porto, strengthening the belief that the earth doesn’t belong to us. I got pregnant, lost the baby, dear family members are gone but we welcomed a nephew into the world, and our family got closer than ever. The sunsets in 2024 were breathtaking…

Tough year, amazing year. May God continue to bless and keep us in 2025.
