The Royal Bathory Dragon Family

A Dragon Family who served as Grand Masters in Emperor Sigismund's Order of the Dragon are the Bathorys. Although most people tend to think of Dracula and his family as the rulers of Transylvania, in truth this honor belongs to the House of Bathory, who were the principle Dragon Family and rulers of Transylvania during the 16th-17th Centuries. The Bathory Dragon Family was originally founded by Briccius Bathory, a member of the Gutkeled Clan of Hungarian nobles that originated in the German Duchy of Swabia. Strategic unification between the Dragon Families of the Houses of Bathory, Lusignan and Basarab (the family of Dracula) have occurred on numerous occasions, including Vlad III’s (Dracula) first marriage to Cneajna Bathory. Thus, through their Lusignan and Basarab lines, the Bathory’s can trace their dragon origins back to the Scythian Dragons that emerged out of Central Asia.
