We sell equipment to be used for full contact HEMA/historical fencing, reenactment, SCA and similar weapon fighting. We are both experienced HEMA competitiors and instructors. It is a path to explore what it means to be human and to be alive. St Mark is a company dedicated to those who pursuit the Art of Fencing. Fencing history is full of people who have stood up for ideals, honour and love. The

inheritance and stewardship of these traditions is important for any fencer who wishes to follow in the footsteps of the ancient masters. St Mark was founded with this at heart. We believe that if we wish to honour our history and traditional fencing culture we must carry ourselves with a certain dignity. The equipment we use and the clothes we wear should reflect this ideal. That is why we have dedicated ourselves to only provide you with goods of the highest quality. St Mark is a brand for fencers, by fencers. Our goal is to make you proud to wear and use our products, because they are made with love for fencing history and tradition. We take our name from the patron saint of the Marxbrüder. In 1487 they became the first fencing guild that was approved by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick III.

The Koning Nobilis is our modern take on the fencing glove — Dyneema and a hard shell across the top, with laminated padding over the fingers, knuckles and back of the hand, and high-quality leather across the palm. Built for heavy drilling and long sessions sparring.

The name comes from the Franco-Belgian fencing guilds, where the winner of the guild tournament was crowned King — Koning — for the year.

At St Mark Guild, we believe that fencing should be open to everyone.

Last week, Alfred and I had the privilege of giving a private lesson to two young students, Eyvind and Malkolm. Like all students, they came to learn, challenge themselves, and enjoy the art of fencing.

With a few adaptations, Malkolm was able to participate fully despite using a walking aid. It was a reminder that the barriers to participation are often smaller than we think when there is a willingness to adapt and find solutions.

Both young men carried themselves with pride, listened carefully, learned quickly, and were an absolute pleasure to train.

Making fencing accessible is something that has been close to my heart for many years, including my involvement in the Fencing4All project, which explored how people with different abilities can take part in our sport.

Not everyone fences in the same way. But far more people can fence than many imagine.
