😭 Aiyo - gam siah la, M (you know who you are)! ❤️ As the year of the snake slithers to an end, we're very grateful to be blessed with a lovely hamper from one of our kakis. We really didn't expect this... and that's why it really warms the si-hum of our hearts more than the reunion dinner heartburn (we mean that in a good way)!

Funnily, the same thing happened as 2024 came to an end. A yearly reminder from the universe about our mission, maybe! We promise to pay this kindness and warmth forward, beyond and yonder, as the year of the horse gallops in. The kampung spirit rides again! 🐴

Also - a shout-out to our Muslim Kakis who'll be starting Ramadan in the coming days. Just another 3 more years before we get to Kongsi Raya together once more... 🙂

P.S gentle reminder that Footkaki is now closed for our Lunar New Year break. We'll be back on Tuesday 24 Feb - wishing everyone heartful and healthful times with your loved ones ❤️

🐴 Selamat Cina Tahun Bahru! Thank you for your support for the year thus far. We’re still open until Sunday, 15 Feb. After that, Footkaki will close for our Lunar New Year break. We’ll be back on Tuesday, 24 Feb! 🙇🏻‍♂️

Weekend slots are almost fully taken up 😅 If you can’t get a slot at go.footkaki.com/appt - we’re still serving walk-in’s in queue order until Sunday 5.30pm.

Happy new year, everyone! I'm not good at writing template posts. Just leaving these scribbles from the final days of a precious break spent with my kids and family.

As 2025 winds down and 2026 restarts the grind - let's just celebrate what matters. I'm reminded of a song John Green wrote about - heard in the trenches of World War I: "We're here because we're here because we're here because we're here", sung to the tune of Auld Lang Syne.

Here's to hope that a new year brings - hope that life goes on, hope that love continues, that good things and loved ones stay as long as they can, that things can get better, and hope that we remember to cherish every moment spent in this beautiful world of ours.

I hope everyone's had a good enough year. And if you haven't, I hope that simple things happen to make a good one. - Clarence.

Yep, we're taking off to kaypoh about and discuss the discourse. And on we'll need to think about the kind of Singapore we dream of. We're still open for cooling-off day and results day though, the latter for which I'll probably be as hungover as you if the counting takes as long as in . 🫠

👻 Boo! The just reached our little shop. In all white too because elections are coming and maybe maybe maybe someone will find them useful for walkabout and kissing babies. ⚡

All in wide fittings, orthotic-friendly, and only $208. Kee chiu if you think that's a good deal dei 😏.

Ladies first though - men's sizes will get here the week after. Limited stocks cos these are an exclusive colourway for us. 🤫

Now about the Ghost Max 2: it's not to be confused with the Brooks Ghost series! We were very excited when given the chance to bring this in (after testing the pre-production models). One way to describe the Ghost Max: it's the reincarnated Brooks Dyad - one of my personal favourite shoes when growing up (yes I started young with dad shoes). 🫤

Discontinued sometime around 2020 or 2021, the Dyad was quite ahead of its time, probably one of the first podiatrist approved shoes in the stable neutral category. Quite remarkable in an era when almost all stability shoes were medial posted!

While the Dyad might be reminisced by some of us elder millenials (i.e new boomers), the Ghost Max 2 offers something more: a gentle forefoot rocker for easy transitions between steps. That's another orthopedic footwear feature that's been "inspiring" sports brands these days (another rabbit hole I'll not go down today).

So I'll end this little update before we delve into a full thesis (I've got a feeling this post is already too long even for IG standards). In a nutshell: if you find traditional stability shoes too hard, and rocker shoes too unstable - do drop by to see if these babies are right for you.

"NOT THE HERO WE DESERVED, BUT THE HERO WE NEEDED".

We wanted to show you some new sandals, but our friendly neighbourhood Batman had other plans. 😼

Batman's a super sweet maine c**n who takes care of the pet supplies store next door, together with his friendly hooman Uncle James. It's called - they're right behind our shop!

You might recognise Batman from that time he made the news after getting separated from Uncle James (only to be found by students and teachers at a nearby school!).

Anyway, Batman wants you to drop by and say 👋🏻 "hi" if you're passing by. Maybe grab a little something for your own fur kid if you need to (it helps support their little shop).

Also ask Uncle James' about his seafaring days under the northern lights (before he lost his leg - def lots to talk about).

🪭 Little announcement - one week to go before our annual CNY break! So do let us know if you need anything before we tutup ya?

We won't be able to work for a week because I need to recover from encounters with my mother-in-law. (Just kidding. Really.) 😐

You can show them to your mum, along with some stuff we wish folks said more often during all those Lunar New Year get-togethers. Obviously, we are not hinting at anything in those pictures... 🤔

🍰 The seasonal bakes we ordered just arrived and footkaki's own meimei is going to sapuk everything then food coma then berak then complain that she fat-fat then kena scolding from then feel sad-sad so she'll go and makan some more. 🐍

According to her, I also just completely predicted her entire CNY cycle with startling clairvoyance. 😏
