At Rivadouce, we believe in responsible beauty that respects the planet and people. This is why we are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment and preserving biodiversity.
We relied on the expert in urban beekeeping, Apiterra, to install 10 beehives on our site in Thouars. For more than 30 years now, we have been using honey as a key ingredient in our Rivadouce formulas, especially in our Loupiots treatments. It is therefore time to study them more closely!
As you probably know (or maybe not yet), the disappearance of bees is not only detrimental for the planet, but also for humans. Chemicals, parasites, monocultures, the Asian hornet as well as climate change cause the decrease in bee population. And we need them! And yes, today more than 30% of human food depends on pollination carried out by bees.
We therefore wanted to act and support the preservation of bees. Thanks to the beehives installed on our industrial site, our desire is to make teams, customers and partners aware of the preservation of the species through workshops and regular events around beekeeping.
Here are some fun facts about bees:
✔️ They take 7,000 hours to make 500g of honey
✔️ A worker produces 7g of honey in her lifetime
✔️ 30,000 bees are present in a hive
✔️ The bees in a hive visit 21 million flowers per day
✔️ The distance to produce 500g of honey = 1 and a half turns of the earth
