Amen 🙏
🤲 FAITH.. AND 🙏 PRAYER .... are connected in Scripture, but they’re not the same thing. Think of faith as the root, prayer as the expression.
HERE’S THE DIFFERENCE ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE... 📖✍️
1. WHAT EACH ONE IS.. ✍️
🎤 FAITH.. 🤲
= Trusting reliance on God and His promises.
It’s a settled conviction and commitment of the heart.
11:1
💙 “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
4:20-21 Abraham “was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
🎤 PRAYER... 🤲
= Talking to God. It’s how you express faith, dependence, petition, confession, thanks, and worship.
4:6 “In every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
#1 Thessalonians 5:17
“Pray continually.”
2. THEIR RELATIONSHIP
🎤 FAITH COMES FIRST AND GIVES PRAYERS ITS POWER.
1:6 “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt.”
11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Prayer without faith is empty words. Faith without prayer can become passive or private.
🎤 PRAYER STRENGTHENS FAITH .
As you pray, God’s character and past faithfulness remind you He’s trustworthy [ 77:11-12]. 10:17
says faith comes by hearing the word, and prayer is how you engage with that word personally.
3. KEY DISTINCTIONS
🤲 Faith
🙏 Prayer
🎤 Internal attitude trust, confidence, allegiance to God External act, speaking/listening to God
🎤 Object: God and His promises 🎤 Action: Communicating with God
You can have faith silently Abraham believed before he prayed [ 15:6]
Prayer expresses faith, but can also be unbelieving if done out of ritual [Matt 6:7]
saves, “believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” [ 16:31]
Prayer doesn’t save, it’s the means by which we live in dependence
