STATEMENTS TEACHERS SHOULD NEVER USE ON THEIR STUDENTS OR PUPILS IN SCHOOLS

1. “Why are you so slow?”

2. “Your head is hard.”

3. “You can never be serious.”

4. “You are wasting your parents’ money.”

5. “I don’t expect anything good from you.”

6. “You are the problem in this class.”

7. “Even your younger ones are smarter than you.”

8. “Stop asking foolish questions.”

9. “You embarrass me as a student.”

10. “You will fail this exam as usual.”

11. “I’m tired of correcting you because you never learn.”

12. “You are too stubborn to succeed.”

13. “Nobody in this class should copy from you.”

14. “I don’t care whether you pass or fail.”

15. “You are good for nothing.”

Children often become what they repeatedly hear.

A teacher’s voice should be a source of guidance, correction, hope, and encouragement — not fear and emotional damage.

Correct students firmly when necessary, but never destroy their confidence in the process.

The Back to Learning campaign of 2026 has begun today at St. Bakhita Primary School in Aweil East County, under the theme: “Educate a Child, Build a Nation.”

Organized by the Windle Trust International, known by its German acronym KFW, the event was officiated by Acting Director General Peter Deng, accompanied by four directors from the ministry; namely Mark Makuel of Planning and Budgeting, Gabriel Ater of Quality Assurance and Standards, Bol Ajonga of General Education, and Simon Ngor of Inspection and Supervision.

The campaign brought together community and county youth leaders, Acting County Commissioner, teachers, parents and WTI representative.
The County Education Director Jacob Kuan, who welcome the Acting DG and his accompanying team, took a chance to speak about the status of ongoing schools registration, and challenges facing teachers in the county, including the prolonged delay of salaries and lack of necessary learning materials in some schools such as blackboards and textbooks. Kuan added that, despite having faced a number of issues, the teachers are committed to performing their duty in their respective schools.

In response, Peter Deng first thanked the gathering for coming out to participate in the event, and assured the ministry's determination, under the leadership of Hon. Akoon Diing, to address the obstacles being faced by the teachers in their field of duty. Peter said the issue of salaries delay is a nationwide problem but he said the National Ministry of General Education has been working hard for the solution, requesting teachers to remain patient and hope for the best.

The Acting DG, however, encouraged learners to put in more efforts in their studies, asking them to distance themselves from distraction-inducing activities, while urging parents to do their best to take their children to schools.
The veteran teacher concluded his address by telling the gathering to make education a top priority, saying that "education is the only effe

WEAK FOUNDATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR POOR PERFORMANCE IN MATHEMATICS

One major factor I have discovered that is responsible for poor performance of many students in mathematics is poor mathematical foundation. So many students find mathematics difficult because of weak foundation.

Someone who doesn't know the basic concepts of mathematics will definitely see mathematics as a hard subject. You cannot be lacking the knowledge of the basic concepts of mathematics and expect to do well.

Atimes, when am explaining some work to some of my mates in class, they struggle to have comprehension. I will explain and explain, yet no understanding. The factor responsible for that is poor mathematical foundation.

My father will always say, "You don't build a strong building on weak foundation."

He will always say that, "It's the foundation that will determine the capacity of any building."

Therefore, if you are struggling with mathematics, maybe you have a weak foundation in the subject. You will need to relearn and master those fundamental mathematical concepts.

You cannot have weak foundation and expect to do well in mathematics. Weak foundation is responsible for your poor performance.

I believe you get my point. I'm your boy teacher BOSCO
