PAST
Most of the Vietnam’s war major “Ground battle” took place on the countryside along the rice paddies field, rivers and steaming forest in southern part of Vietnam. The Central Highlands were the area which most branches of the Ho Chi Minh Trail passed through. With its rugged, jungle-clad terrain, it also seemed to be the North Vietnamese best place to destroy the elite of South Vietnam's armed forces and to fight initial battles with the Americans.
“DITCHES” became most important "land feature" to the American armies and allies, as their refuge, their shelters, their nurse station, and their escape routes.
