The patina of Museum Green Shell Cordovan from CONCERIA ROCADO after one year of use. The toes on this Legacy X have flattened nicely, and the leather has already darkened, giving the boots so much character.

What an incredible day! We got a visit from selected craftsmen & brands for our “In Good Hands” campaign. The agenda for today is Materials Days, which means we discuss the design and cut the leather. It should be heavy talk about the craft & industry, but it ends up being us casually hanging out in our shop from 2 until 8pm! We shared a good laugh, a funny story, and, of course, Batagor Isan (random fact I learned today, H. Isan invented batagor).

Some of you might not know we have this style, , a classic American-style gunboat or long-wing brogue.

This pair above was made using CONCERIA ROCADO shell cordovan in Navy, with Norvegese construction and Dr. Sole Originals 1220 supergrip full soles. That was Dr. Sole thinner outsole option, great for a smarter-looking shoe or boot.

After going through all the submissions, we’re happy to announce the five makers selected for the first edition of In Good Hands:

Honestly, choosing only five wasn’t easy. There were quite a few concepts we really liked, but with the limited amount of leather we have available, some good ideas unfortunately had to be left out this time.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit your ideas and share your work with us. We’re sorry we couldn’t include everyone this time, but we truly appreciate the effort and enthusiasm behind every submission.

Now the fun part begins.

15 October 2026
We’ll meet at the Sagara workshop for Material Day, where we’ll select and cut the leather together, while also having a chance to sit down, discuss the designs, and share ideas.

12 December 2026
We’ll bring everyone together again to showcase the finished pieces and celebrate the work that came out of this project.

We’re really looking forward to seeing what these five makers will make with the same Maryam Vachetta Oil Horsebutt Burgundy, each in their own way.

A bit unusual here, in 5-inches, 1 inch shorter than the standard height. Using Maryam Tannery vachetta horsebutt natural for the quarter, and oxblood for the rest.

They are also made in EE width. In case youndon’t know, our MTO service comes in D, E, & EE widths (standard, wide, and extra wide).

Some 10 inches bad boys here. Using as the basic pattern, the specs were different from those of the standard Boondockers. Norwegian Storm Welt instead of Flat, lugged soles instead of Raw Cord, and the list goes on. But they still have the same spirit, dependable as field boots.
