The Hot Seat activity is a great way to help students develop communication skills. Here’s how and why it works 👇

🎯 What Is the “Hot Seat”?

In a Hot Seat activity, one student sits in the “hot seat” and answers questions from classmates about a specific topic, role, or situation. It’s often used in language, drama, or communication lessons.

💬 How It Helps Communication Skills

1. Improves Speaking Confidence

Students practice expressing ideas in front of others.

Over time, they overcome fear or shyness when speaking publicly.

2. Enhances Listening Skills

Students in the audience must listen carefully to ask relevant follow-up questions.

3. Encourages Critical Thinking

The person in the hot seat must think quickly and organize their thoughts clearly.

It helps them learn how to respond under pressure.

4. Builds Vocabulary and Fluency

It gives real-life speaking practice using new words and sentence structures naturally.
