If you’ve been an internet user at any point since the mid-aughts, you might think you’re familiar with the photo of Paris Hilton wearing a slogan tee that read “Stop Being Poor” at the launch of her sister Nicky’s clothing line in 2005. Aesthetically, Oseph's research for the collection began before then. For the past three years, he has been documenting and collecting images of immigrant uncles in their element — back home in Kuwait and beyond. The nuances of how Indian, Arab, and uncles of all ethnicities dress and adapt to new surroundings — professionally and socially — is a key theme. Oseph also referenced the works of contemporary artists, such as Mumbai-born Ritika Pandey. Ultimately, he was awarded his university's Fashion Industry Award for the collection's cohesion and wearability.

Riac Oseph has been documenting and collecting images of immigrant uncles in their element for the past three years.
