Power Outage Disrupts Tolling at Kajjansi Expressway Plaza

A power outage disrupted tolling operations at the Kajjansi Toll Plaza along the Kampala–Entebbe Expressway, causing temporary traffic build-up and prompting reports that toll workers had gone on strike.

Ministry of Works and Transport spokesperson Allan Ssempebwa clarified that the disruption was caused by the power failure, not a workers' strike.

He said the tolling contract allows for free passage when toll lanes become inactive to reduce congestion and inconvenience to motorists. The measure was activated at Kajjansi as technical teams worked to restore the system.

Some motorists reportedly used the disruption to pass through the toll plaza without paying.
