Copper Moon Bag Company was born by the light of the moon in the after hours in my studio at the intersection of my love of sewing, leather craft and my education in design. Here’s a little number I made a few months back, I just came across these tiles during my shop spring cleaning. I wanted to make sure I was using the best edge finish that would age well with the bag. In the end I went with tokonole because it dries clear and glossy which highlights the natural beauty of this amazing natural vachetta leather. It was the right choice. What do you think? Should we add natural vachetta as an option?

Some things get better with time. Vegetable-tanned leather starts out clean, almost quiet- but it’s meant to change. To soften. To deepen. To take on a story that’s entirely your own.
That rich worn-in glow? That’s patina. It’s not something we add- it’s something you create.
No two will ever age the same .
And that’s the point.

Last August I hired our friend and graphic designer Malcolm King to do our Logo. We had an hour long initial meeting where we talked about what I wanted, shared a mood board and talked about the font, the image the shape. He sent me several sketches over the next month and we went back and forth tweaking the design. I also asked for a suite of icons to pull out of the main image so I really have quit a lot to work with.
We still haven’t fully integrated it into our packaging, but this is a start.
I’m so excited about all the ways we can used our new Design Suite.
Good packaging is something I really believe in. I don’t think you can really underestimate how powerful of a tool it can be.
That said, I’ve been slow to incorporate that value here. This company is an exercise in organic flow.
Malcolm also designed the Logo for my Guitar Strap company like 10 years ago, it’s really the gift that keeps on giving.

Cut to size zipper at mostly 10 x speed! It’s a funny thing to love doing, but I actually do enjoy making my own zips to fit. In fact I enjoy the whole bag making process. Every bag is made one at a time Small batch Style right here in our 100 year old Adobe studio!
