*Ingredient Spotlight*

Here we have chickweed (Stellaria media), one of the most common edible plants in the world. It grows during the cool weather of late Winter and early Spring. It grows near trees or stumps, on the edges of fields, or in disturbed areas (sidewalks and the like). Super nutritious and packed with vitamins, it has a pleasant crisp texture and flavor similar to mâche (corn salad) or fresh spinach. Add it to your salad mixes or mixed with wilted greens.

*Ingredient Spotlight*
As the weather warms up into Spring we want to start showcasing every ingredient that forage and work with throughout the year. First up is Bittercress, aka Hairy Bittercress or Wintercress. This early wild green has two seasons in our area, one is late Autumn and the other is late Winter (now). Found in damp and open spaces, it is easy to identify as it grow in a small cluster with a single central base. Despite the name it isn’t especially bitter but has a slight peppery flavor, like a cross between radish and cabbage leaves. Use it raw in salad mixes, on top of sandwiches, or lightly wilted in a grain bowl. Make sure to wash it thoroughly, as it tends to accumulate dirt or sand.

It’s the Autumn Equinox, first day of the new season. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us through these tough times. From the farmers who work with us to provide amazing and unique products, to the chefs who continue to support us, to our Foraged and Local customers, it is because of YOU that we are still here. We will continue to provide you with high quality, local, and delicious ingredients this season and afterwards. There are still many unique products coming up in the next few months. We are also planning out a traditional weekly Winter CSA, starting early-mid November, for those customers who still want local produce when the farmer’s markets and most farm CSAs are over. The farms we work with will continue to produce amazing vegetables and herbs throughout the winter. Stay tuned for more details.

This is a favorite time of the year for the team here at Arcadia Venture; one reason being this Fruit Tree Honey! As bees pollinate various orchard trees, the distinct flavors of the trees' nectar are translaslated into this golden syrup - think aromas of sweet dried pears and nutty cherry sap. 🍐🍒 You can add this honey on to your order for next week! Boxes for next Tuesday's (5/26) delivery will be going on sale at 5pm today!

Thank you again to everyone who has continued to support us with our delivery boxes! 🙏
Today at 5 PM we launch ordering for next week, BUT next week we will be doing delivery on WEDNESDAY (5/20) instead of Tuesday (only next week). Our Friday delivery stays the same. This is to allow us some extra time to forage as the weather warms up and to plan our next steps moving forward!

A couple of announcements from us today:

1)We will be opening sales for next Friday's delivery at 5 pm today! All purchases should be made through our website.
2)We made some changes to our website! There's now a blog section! In this section we will be posting various things: stories of why we do what we do, recipes for some of the more interesting items in your provision box, as well as information about some of the ingredients and farms we work with and are bringing to you.

Orders for our “Foraged and Local” delivery boxes for Tuesday May 5 (5/5) will be available at 5 PM TODAY on our website! A few changes to the way we do the boxes starting that week:
1) Boxes will be $30, but will include more variety of products as they come in from the farmers and foragers and still No extra delivery charge
2) Box orders will be released at 5 PM one week before delivery date (except today’s release at 5 for next Tuesday)
3) In order to help out farmers and foragers who have product availability that changes daily, we will no longer list the exact things in the box description on the order page; each box will still always include mushrooms, wild greens/herbs, and local produce
4) Due to really high demand, we cannot currently accept standing weekly orders and waitlists
5) If we have extra individual products we will post them on the site as “add-ons” to boxes

All of this will help to minimize food waste, help farmers to sell their produce, and get unique products in your kitchens! Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding!
