🐾 IT’S NATIONAL DOG DAY! 🐾
Today, we want to see YOUR DOG! ❤️ Drop a photo of your favorite four-legged family member in the comments and let’s fill this post with some serious puppy love! 🐶👇
And today, we’re featuring our own little princess, Dolly. 👑💕
Dolly was spayed today, and yes… watching your dog be uncomfortable and in pain after surgery is HARD. 😭 We’d much rather see her feeling 100% than recovering from surgery.
But then we remember the alternative.
Did you know an unspayed female dog can develop pyometra, a potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus?
Pyometra can cause the uterus to fill with pus and can quickly become a medical emergency. If left untreated, the infection can spread throughout the body and can be fatal. In many cases, emergency surgery is the only way to save the dog. 💔
We have witnessed first hand dogs not make it through surgery because it was too late. 😭
Spaying isn’t just about preventing unwanted litters. It can save your dog’s life.
And for our boys? Neutering matters too. It helps prevent unwanted litters and can reduce the risk of certain reproductive health problems.
We know surgery can be scary. We know watching them recover is hard. But responsible pet ownership means making the choices that protect them for the long haul, even when those choices are difficult in the moment. ❤️

❤️🐾 ADOPTED: BOSCO! 🐾❤️

Bosco needed more than just a home, he needed a place where he could learn, feel safe, and be given the patience he deserved. Luckily, he found exactly that.

Bosco spent much of his previous life living outdoors in a 10x6 fenced cage. He simply hadn't been given the opportunity to experience what life could be like outside of those walls.

Since being given that chance, we have watched an entirely different Bosco emerge. He has come out of his shell, learned that he is safe, experienced new things, and shown us just how loving he truly is.

THIS is rescue.

If Bosco has taught us anything, it's that environment is everything. Sometimes a dog doesn't need to be "fixed" they need patience, understanding, security, and the right environment to finally become who they were always capable of being.

🏡🐶❤️ Today, Bosco is free from his cage and thriving in his forever home.

To Bosco's adopters, thank you. Thank you for your patience, your commitment, and for giving Bosco the time and space he needed to learn what it means to be loved and safe.

🐶❤️ This is the life Bosco deserved all along.
Happy tails, Bosco. You made it home. 🏡🐾

🐾 What an AMAZING summer with YVC! 🐾
Every Tuesday this summer, we welcomed the YVC Alpena kiddos to Reborn Rescue! They jumped right in and made so many memories with us.
🐶From walking dogs and giving lots of doggie baths to learning about animal rescue, proper pet ownership, veterinary care, and what it takes to give animals the happy, healthy lives they deserve.
💙These kids wrote thank you cards for our donors and helped with returning bottles to support the rescue. And we wrapped up the summer with something extra special… paw bouquet paintings!
🦴🐾 They even baked homemade doggie treats for our rescue dogs the last day, they were a huge hit!
☀️One of our favorite parts of the summer was watching these kiddos become more and more comfortable at our facility.
💙That is one of our biggest goals. To create a place where everyone feels welcome, safe, valued, and part of the rescue family.
💙We are so grateful to YVC for spending their Tuesdays with us this summer. We hope you learned as much from us, as we learned from you. You are never too young to make a difference!

🚨 EMERGENCY MEDICAL UPDATE: COOPER NEEDS YOUR HELP 🚨
Our sweet foster pup Cooper had us worried today. 💔
Cooper developed significant swelling on one side of his face. He was started on antibiotics, and thankfully the swelling went down. We truly believed the issue had been resolved.
Unfortunately, today the swelling returned much more severely, and Cooper needed emergency veterinary care.
He had to be sedated so the area could be opened and drained. What our veterinary team found was a pocket filled with pus and blood. Cooper now has stitches and has been prescribed four different medications that he will need to take for the next three weeks. We are unsure of what caused this to occur.
A HUGE thank you to his amazing foster family for being there for him, and to our veterinary partners at Huron Vet for taking such good care of our boy. Cooper is now resting and beginning his recovery back at his foster home. 🐾
💰 His emergency veterinary bill is just over $400.
Unexpected medical emergencies like this are exactly why rescue needs a village. If you are able to make a donation toward Cooper's emergency care, any amount helps and every dollar goes directly towards his medical bill.
