This month, we collaborated on a liquid hand soap with Mystic | Eco-Friendly Skincare , a local Ames business specializing in handcrafted, eco-friendly cosmetics and self-care products.

Not only does it smell AMAZING and I found myself repeatedly smelling my hands afterwards, but it did something else I’ve never experienced as a person with chronically dry skin—left my hands softer.

This softness is the result from being a castile soap, which uses locally sourced raw honey. It also uses all CLEAN ingredients (see what I did there 😉) and is free from harsh chemicals.

Our staff love it too and agree that this is the best hand soap we’ve ever tried!

It releases next week, Wednesday, June 17th in-store and online at theslowera.com. Set a reminder to get your hands on it🙌🏼

FACTS🙌🏼

Yesterday while killing some time in Des Moines’ East Village, I was so excited to see the new spot for and it didn’t disappoint! I love that each vintage shop in the area has its own unique vibe and I love how laid back and cool this one is. I wish I got more pics, but besides the curation, I loved the seating areas and photo booth. And a vintage store that serves beer? I’m here🙌🏼 🍻

I picked up the cutest pair of pink linen shorts that I’ll be wearing all summer long. Make sure you stop by next time you’re in Des Moines!

I was recently a guest on , episode 260: “Your Beliefs are your Superpower,” where Amanda and I discuss AI, building a business around your values, how having a brand manifesto (or personal manifesto) acts as a guideline for making decisions based on those values, and how I regularly have conversations with customers about sustainability and slow fashion.

Most often, these conversations begin with the phrase, “They just don’t make things like they used to,” when a customer delights in the quality or unique details of something in the store. Other times, people simply ask me about slow fashion and that’s exactly what happened just days after the episode aired!

It nearly sounds fake, but genuinely happened this way. One of my Summer interns stopped by on her day off with a friend. After introducing us, her friend asked me, “Hey, Belimar tells me you focus on slow fashion. Can you tell me more about it and do you have any tips for living more sustainably?” These slides include many of my responses and more!
