The 1933 Roseville Florentine umbrella stand is marked 298-18 on the bottom along with Roseville USA. The textured panels have a darker brown background with lighter highlights in a bark-like or stony texture, highlighting the handcrafted nature typical of art pottery from its era. The Roseville Pottery was incorporated in 1892 in Roseville, Ohio, but they actually began producing stoneware in 1890 when they purchased an old J.B. Owens Pottery factory. Famous for its Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, and floral motifs, authentic vintage pieces can be identified by raised relief designs and distinctive backstamps.
