Watch as this outfit created by LH Design owner, Linda Homan, transforms multiple times on stage. The design was inspired by the modern day business woman who frequently travels to work conferences, trade shows, and business networking events. With this single ensemble, she no longer has to worry about running back to her hotel room to update her wardrobe for the next event of the day. Instead she can quickly transform from business casual to business professional, or evening formal/cocktail. The ensemble has the potential for six uniquly different looks. The Couture Dress- 6 days May 15-20, 2019
In this six-day workshop, students will learn couture techniques for creating and individualizing their own custom sleeveless dress. A pattern will be drafted and personalized to fit and flatter.
Several techniques and treatments for smooth, flat seams, beautifully hung hems, perfectly inserted zippers, wonderfully flat darts, neckline finishes, invisible or outstanding pockets, and much more will be demonstrated. Students will make samples of their favorite methods and incorporate them into their dress. Claire Shaeffer's book Couture Sewing Techniques will be used as a text.
Claire Schaeffer will make a guest appearance, lecturing and displaying Haute Couture garments from her personal collection.
Information on color, contrast, scale, fabric knowledge and selection, pressing techniques, and sewing ergonomics, will be discussed throughout the week.
Students will start on their own dresses and be well on their way to completing their projects by the end of the workshop. Detailed finishing instructions will be provided for each student.
Cost is $1200 per student; $300 non-refundable deposit will hold a spot. Limited space available to keep a low teacher to student ratio. Muslin and sample supplies included. Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing tools and sewing machine, but these can be made available upon request. A detailed supply list will be provided upon registration or request.
Workshop will be held at the Palm Mountain Resort, at 155 E Belardo, Palm Springs, CA, 92262. Special rates have been negotiated for workshop attendees.
